Day 2: Flight to Cusco & Sacsayhuaman, Quenqo & Tambomachay Tour & Setting the intentions Yoga session (B)
After breakfast at your hotel in Lima, you will once again return to the airport in order to catch your short, one-hour flight to the city of Cusco. Once you arrive in Cusco, you will be met by one of our representatives who will accompany you, and escort you to your Cusco Hotel. After lunch, you will take a tour to Sacsayhuaman, this is where Inti Raymi, the Festival of the Sun, is held during the Summer Solstice. Some of the stones used to build the site weigh up to 70 tons yet are fitted so precisely–without the use of mortar–that one cannot slide even the thinnest object between them. Some believe that the site forms the head of puma or jaguar and that the huge triangulated walls form its teeth, or symbolize lightening. Next, at Tambomachay, the Temple of the Sacred Waters is another site we will visit and is a marvel of hydraulic engineering. Its waters still flow today. Also, at Q´enqo we’ll see the remains of a ceremonial site used for fertility rites and for celebrations of the solstice and equinox. At the conclusion of your tour, you will have a delicious and nutritious lunch. After lunch, you will take your first yoga session: “Setting the intention” workshop. For this class, we will set our intentions for the trip in regards of yoga. You will experience new ways of practice yoga and renovate your energy gathering new positive thoughts throughout each of these wonderful spiritual sites. We will talk about what yoga and meditation means for each of us and introduce the basics principles of Pranayama a technique that will enhance, facilitate and reinforce your practice or hiking in this high altitude city. This will greatly help you in the next few days. Light yoga practice will follow, this will allow the teacher gauge your level since you will be practicing yoga in the altitude and in this way lead you through the next days. The session will be sure to invigorate you and provide you with a special form of enlightenment. * Yoga & Meditation at sites depend on availability of the site at the time of arrival. Depending on the time of the year, sites may be crowded and we will have to adapt. There also may be people around watching and you may experience some noise. This will be a 20-30 minutes maximum practice and not a class, since it is very difficult to teach a class under these conditions. Each member should carry their yoga mat, since yoga mats will not be provided.
Day 3: Yoga Workshop & Walking City Tour (B, L)
After breakfast at your hotel in Cusco, you will be picked-up and taken to your Yoga workshop. Alignment Yoga Workshop: Our yoga teacher uses a fusion of Asthanga and Anusara resulting in a mixed of spirituality and strength. Through this practice, you will learn about the balance between the physical and the spiritual, the freedom and the discipline, the expansive with contractive, the action and rest, the individuality and collective. After your Yoga workshop, you will break for lunch at one of Cusco’s “Green” restaurants, for a delicious organic lunch. At the conclusion of your tour, you will walk back to your hotel (a short walk), in order to prepare for your walking city-tour of Cusco. On this walking tour, we will begin by visiting the city’s Spanish Colonial architecture, that both overlays and is interlaced with the earlier Incan architecture. We walk Cusco’s impressive Plaza de Armas and visit both the Spanish cathedral and Incan temple of the sun, Qoricancha. The Spanish conquistadores destroyed significant portions of the Inca civilization while leaving their mark on Cusco. Ornate cathedrals, adobe walls, carved balconies, hidden courtyards and cobblestone streets add to the historic richness of the ancient Incan capital. Cusco is a city filled with shops and interesting things to do, all at walking distance, so you will be able to explore it all at your own pace. * An extra day in Cusco can be added upon request. Please let us know if you like us to add additional activities. Vegetarian & Vegan options are available.
Day 4: Visit to Pisac Ruins & Yoga, Pisac Market and Ollantaytambo Fortress Tour (B,L)
After breakfast at your hotel, you will be met, and taken on your Pisac Ruins Tour. Pisac was the largest fortress-city complex of the Incas and was one of the largest in ancient America. Our spiritual guide will lead you through the site starting at the sacred bathing area, where you will find a several baths that are feed from a series of adjoining water ducts. Adjacent to the baths on the side of a small valley, you will see ancient Incan burial tombs. Thousands of small holes dug neatly into the hillside form one of the largest burial sites ever found, where skeletal remains were found in the fetal position along with gifts or payments to the earth. Finally, you will get to the upper sector of the Pisac Ruins where you will find the spiritual and sacred Temple of the Sun. You will learn about the exquisite stonework that forms a series of structures considered one of the most important Inca sites and are equal to anything at Machu Picchu. The Temple of the Sun, which surrounds a natural large rock, points directly towards a solitary high peak several hundred yards ahead, this is where we will take a moment to enjoy the incredible views that this remote peak offers. From here, we will walk through a small citadel, which forms the lower sector of the ruins, before continuing along a winding path and down to Pisac village. At this point of the tour, you will prepare for your yoga session, right on site. Your session will include guidance from a top Yoga instructor, and will be accessible for any person, regardless of level of experience. At the conclusion of your yoga session, you will continue on for a visit to the Pisac market.
The Pisac market has a wide variety of artisan arts & crafts and you will have the chance to see the many different products that the sacred valley produces. This is a great opportunity to for you to do some unique shopping, and to purchase souvenirs for your family and friends. After the market, you will break for lunch at one of the local restaurants in the Sacred Valley, to enjoy a delicious lunch. At the conclusion of lunch, you will continue on your Ollantaytambo fortress tour. You will get the chance to visit the Inca town of Ollantaytambo, still inhabited by the locals in much the same way as it was during the time of the Incas. The lodging area is formed by complex structures known as “canchas” or apartments. The Incas built a temple on a terraced site above the town. The impressive, standing stones they erected, conjure up images of Atlantis. This is the site where Manco Inca and his warriors staged a temporary victory over the Spanish Conquistadors, led by Francisco Pizarro. During this victory, the Inca warriors flooded the fields, while raining down spears and arrows from above, making it difficult for the Spanish horses to maneuver, ultimately forcing a rare retreat on the part of the Conquistadors. Vegetarian & Vegan lunch options are available.

The human body contains hundreds of locations where there is concentrated energy and there are seven which are considered major energy centers commonly referred to as ‘chakra’s’. ??Chakra are the centers of force, located within our body, through which we receive, transmit, and process life energies. Each chakra is recognized as a focal point of life force relating to physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual energies. The chakra’s are the network through which body, mind, and spirit interact as one holistic system. ?The main purpose in working with, and understanding the chakra’s is to create integration, and wholeness within ourselves. In this way we bring the various aspects of our consciousness, from the physical to the spiritual, into a harmonious relationship. Ultimately, we begin to recognize that the different aspect of ourselves (physical, material, sexual, spiritual, etc.) all work together, and that each aspect is as much a part of the whole as the others. From the yoga class, you will be taken directly to one of Lima’s best spa’s, where you will enjoy a very well-deserved, invigorating time at the spa, your package includes sauna, body exfoliation, body massage, wine therapy, Facial and reflexology (4-hours) prior to your ultimate departure back home.
