About us

Magical Cusco Tours is a Peruvian-US travel company that specializes in creative and unique tours to Peru. We are a family owned company, and will take care of you from the time you arrive to the time of your departure, like you would be our own family. The owners of the company are Brian and Wendy Alperstein. Wendy’s family have been in the Peruvian tourism business for over 30 years and has a special commitment to quality and customer service. Brian is an American who has spent his professional life traveling the world. They formed the company with the goal of designing the perfect vacation experience to Peru. We have offices in the United States, Lima and Cusco and sell tours to satisfied customers all over the world (check out our testimonials).

How Do We Customize

Creating unique, creative and personalized programs based on your goals, budget, expectations and schedule is our specialty. All you need to do is let our reservations team know the date you want to start, and we will find the perfect fit for you. We will put together a tour , an itinerary and work with you until you get exactly what you are looking for.

What to include? Our Destinations section can give you an idea of some of the most popular programs and extensions we have in Peru. You may also like to choose from our Special Interest program section, where we describe example programs with a special focus (Culinary, Yoga, Volunteer, etc). With all these options, you can create a UNIQUE ITINERARY JUST FOR YOU.

How long? From half-day programs to 2 week-long itineraries, we can customize your ideal vacation just for you. From a City tour in Lima, (the must see tour) to Machu Picchu, a cooking class or a “Shamanic” ceremony. Also, if you want to experience the Peruvian jungle, the unique cultures of Lake Titicaca, the beautiful beaches of the North, or just a Classic Tour or Inca Trail, we can arrange specific tour extensions that meet your needs. Just contact us and we will create something magical for you.

How many people? We don’t have any minimums or maximums;single travelers and couples can enjoy the same level of service and similar itineraries than that of a group of 10 or 15.

When?

We run tours daily, so you can start your tour any day of the year. Also, we can deal with last minute tours. If by any reason you suddenly need to come to Peru, you can contact us to settle and arrange your services in 24 hours.

While we can’t 100% guarantee sunny weather, our team of travel professionals will be available to help you plan all the details of your itinerary, and to assist you during your entire trip once you arrive, until you leave.

Our Social Responsability

Magical Cusco Tours is committed to a sustainable Peru. We commit a percentage of the earnings from every tour we operate to help impoverished towns in Peru, which do not benefit from tourism dollars. Magical Cusco Tours is currently working in the town of Huarocondo, near Cusco, to help that very poor town build a school, a shelter for students who live far away, and a medical clinic. We also support the victims of the 2007 earthquake in Canete & Chincha. Traveling with us will give you a great opportunity to see Peru and help a community in need.

We are professional, experienced, and completely/fully committed to service. Our team is full of dedicated professionals who live and breathe each special experience in Peru. Each member of our team can be counted on to support you on your tour. Here is who we are:

Brian Alperstein, Chairman and Director

Brian is a US-born International lawyer (don’t hold that against him), with a true love of travel. Much of our model is based on righting the wrongs he has experienced during his over 3 million miles as a business and vacation traveler. He especially loves the culinary tour and anything related to it. He says,without a doubt, that Peruvian cuisine beats any other cuisine in the world. For Brian, eating out in Lima has made eating elsewhere a little more of chore.

Wendy Alperstein, Director and President

Wendy’s family has been in the Peruvian tourism industry for over 30 years;No surprises there. Wendy has become one of the top culinary experts in Peru, providing consulting and advice to tourists, businesses and governments alike. She is always included by the Government of Peru on their list of people to talk about the Peruvian culinary revolution. Wendy is a foodie and has dedicated hundreds of hours to assuring that our Taste of Peru tour includes to best of our cuisine (certainly not the worst part of her job). Wendy is also a certified yoga teacher, although she does not teach, she practices everyday and she uses her love and knowledge of yoga to help clients with their itineraries. She absolutely loves creating new tours, where the sky is the limit. Her detailed oriented and perfectionist personality has been instrumental in the creation and implementation of new special interest programs. Flavia Bertoli, General Manager

Flavia is an economist who obtained her degree from the University of Lima. She has 15 years of experience, mainly in the administration and finance field. She has been working in tourism management for almost 10 years, which allowed her to deeply know the main attractions of our country. She always talks about the many clients that write to her sharing their special moments and she feels great knowing that they left our country really happy after their magical travel experience. She believes that giving people a great vacation experience is truly something special, so she is constantly looking for ways to improve our processes and quality of our service. She believes that with hard work, responsibility, honesty and humbleness you can work successfully; and if you encounter any mistakes, those are just to give you strength and more experience for the next time.

Ana Maria Calderón, Sales Manager

Annie is an economist, who also graduated from the University of Lima’s. She is not only our Sales Manager, but she is also a chef, famous for her amazing buffets and catering for her friends and family. This, in addition to her love for travel and tourism (she has been traveling for the last ten years), makes the perfect mix to be part of the Magical Staff. She spent more than 5 years living in the US, Chile and Spain, so she knows very well what our American and International clients are looking for. Annie is our MCT library, oracle, source of all knowledge…she knows it all :). Her amazing memory and attention to detail allows her to create any itinerary (standard or unique) in minutes! Just one thing…do not ever interrupt her while she is creating!!

Rocio Nino, Operations

Rocio has studied Tourism and has worked in the field for the last 8 years. She is our operations team leader. Rocio has traveled extensively all over Peru, and knows Peru inside and out. Her serious and even-tempered personality makes her perfect for this job, which is constantly filled with challenges since she is always making sure everyone is actually doing their job. She is the go-to person while our clients are in Peru. If you encounter a problem, be sure that she will look for ways to help you and guide you along the way. Veronica Fernandez, Web Sales

Veronica is 27 years old and is in charge of our web sales. She has traveled to the US and China as well as within South America. Vero knows that all of Peru states a task that not many people have accomplished! Her dream is to travel around the world. She is always the one to try new things. What she likes the most about her job is to be able to help her clients planning an unforgettable trip to our country. Her friendly and happy personality is always remembered among our clients who appreciate her great advice and insight.

Jose Antonio Mendoza, Finance & Administration
	He has studied Administration at San Ignacio de Loyola University with a specialization in finance. He has worked with us almost since inception. He has, under his wing, our back office and takes care of all of our non-tourism related matters (yes, all). He is a dynamic, easygoing, hard working person. He has been instrumental to our team as he keeps the office going. He is an avid reggae fan.
