While traveling in Peru there are a few things that every tourist should take into consideration. While Magical Cusco Tours will make sure that you are well cared for, here are few specific things you should bear in mind:

• Do not drink the water, only bottled water and brush teeth with bottled water.
• Almost all food in restaurants are fine to eat, you might want to ask if the vegetables are cleaned with purified water and if ice is made with purified water.
• Taxis are old but generally safe - we don't recommend riding in one of the little "Ticos". The cost of riding around the center of Lima should generally not go beyond 6 soles. It is practice to tell the Taxi driver where you are going before you get in the taxi and pre-negotiate a price. Usually, it is one - two soles less than the first offer. In Cusco, you should be able to go anywhere in or around the downtown area for less than 5 soles.

Here are a few Lima specific tips:

• Remember, Lima is a big third world city, so be careful with your purses and wallets and try not to display money in public.
• Close to our preferred hotels is the Larco Mar shopping area - it's a high-end restaurant filled mall with great ocean views.
• You can feel generally safe walking up and down the Malecon, which is the path in front of the hotel with views of the coast.
