This is a great extension to a Classic tour if you have 12 days and do not mind taking buses. This is a very special excursion and by taking buses you will have the opportunity to see cities that you do not normally see if flying. The north part of Peru has many interesting stops and it is a less traveled route as cities like Cajamarca even though are beautiful, is less traveled by tourists. The itinerary starts with a quick-taste of Lima and then you will continue to Huaraz. While in Huaraz, you will view mountains, glaciers, lakes and the picturesque Cordillera Blanca Valleys, the highest tropical mountain range in the world. From Huaraz, you will continue on to Trujillo, where you will have the chance to see the largest adobe-city in pre-hispanic America: Chan Chan, the Huacas (or pyramids) or the Sun & Moon, along with the beach resort of Huanchaco. After Trujillo, you will continue on bus to the the city of Chiclayo. In Chiclayo, you will visit the royal tombs of the “Lord of Sipan,” while also visiting the archaeological site of Tucume, or otherwise known as the “Valley of the Pyramids.” The final portion of your tour will see you travel by bus to Cajamarca, where you will embark on the Banos del Inca excursion, in which you will be able to see and experience the hot spring Incan baths, used by the Incas themselves, along with the necropolis (or burial ground) of Ventanas de Otuzco, finished by a tour of the archaeological site of Cumbemayo, which will allow you to walk and explore this ancient, rock-formed marvel.
