Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Bus from Lima to Paracas & Paracas National Reserve and Ballestas Islands Tour (B, S)

PeruYou will need to be up early as you will be picked up at your hotel in Lima, for your specially crafted, guided tour of Paracas. The tour begins by taking a tourist bus from Lima to Paracas. Upon arrival we will take you to the Paracas Port where you will begin you Guided tour of Ballestas Islands. The motor boat excursion to Ballestas Islands will take you to observe sea lions, boobies, pelicans, penguins and other marine birds, among the many other species which converge there looking for shelter. On the boat trip over to the islands, the famous “Candelabro” can be seen; an enigmatic form that many people believe is related to the enigmatic Nazca lines. You will have plenty of time to visit these beautiful sites and marina, before continuing on to the second portion of your excursion: Guided tour of National Paracas Reserve. The Reserve was established in 1975 to protect the diversity of wildlife and dynamic ecology between the Pacific Ocean and the tropical coastal desert. As the only protected marine area in Peru, Paracas is significant as the primary habitat for unique species as well as for its abundance of marine resources. A chain of guano-covered islands is of national importance as a breeding refuge for pelagic species such as the anchovy and anchors a number of fish and shorebird communities. You will be given the chance to discover the richness and natural beauty of the reserve on this tour. You will have the chance to have lunch on your own before your bus back to the city of Lima. Once back in Lima, you will be transported back to your hotel.
