| RECOMMENDED BY OUR TEAM: Urubamba villas consists of four traditionally adobe-built cottages, set on ample grounds providing privacy and peace and quiet. Villas do not have a restaurant or bar. Instead, your wake-up call is the sound of two cooks coming in to prepare your breakfast: eggs as you like, pancakes, fruit, local bread, coffee, fresh juice, and plenty more. Dinner is also prepared by an on-site duo, with a bottle of wine included in the mix. A garden with fresh vegetables and herbs provides produce and seasonings for meals. There are games for the family, books and magazines to read, and an outdoor sitting area for drinks as the sun is going down. | RECOMMENDED BY OUR TEAM: Is one of the only Sacred Valley hotels to sit right in the center of town and have its own railway station in Urubamba for trips to Machu Picchu. A big plus is being able to walk off the resort into town to have dinner at the excellent El Huacatay restaurant or have a drink in one of Urubamba’s understated bars and cafes. The property runs parallel to the Rio Urubamba and rooms face either it or the opposing gardens backed by town, the cordillera, and Chicón glacier. An amazing view! Rooms have understated luxury with wood floors, Andean accents that give a feeling of serenity and provide a nice peaceful stay. All rooms have either a balcony or a patio that opens up to the grounds. The restaurant is one of the best in the area with a mix of international fare to Novo Andina and the bar has specialty drinks with exotic fruits. It has an indoor-outdoor pool where you can enjoy the scenery while you relax. The 5,500 square foot spa is one of the best features of this hotel, include saunas, steam rooms, and a water world of pools and showers and tubs, all with a healthy mix of jets and bubbles. Specialty treatments like Andean Chocolate or 24-karat Gold Facials and Passion fruit or El Misti mud therapies are found nowhere else in the area (though they do offer most standard massages and treatments as well). Though the beauty of the hotel’s location is that, if you want to save on costs, you can walk right out of the door and take local transportation or hire a taxi to almost anywhere in the valley. Outdoors near the train terminal, on a corner of the property, is a small village of shops that comes alive before trains are to depart. The rest of the time it stays quiet. A small riverside walking trail and gardens fill the remainder of the walled compound. In summary, the Tambo del Inka is well rounded in every degree. It is one the best luxury hotels in the valley. |

The suites are just luxurious in addition to the regular luxurius features the best is the strategically placed beds which allow for awakening to a glorious river view, while slanted windows over the showers redefine bathing under the sun. Decoration has a locally inspired minimalist décor adorned with Inca crafts and folkloric embroidery. The two-story riverfront villas have ample interior living space, high ceilings and windowed roofs frame surrounding eucalyptus trees and amplify sense of light and space with all the amenities.
